John Kenny

John is Scottish and is a good friend of Tom stretching back to a trekking trip in the Himalayas in 1991. Since then they have shared many kayaking adventurers on the water and the odd sailing trip. John has always found Toms enthusiasm infectious and can't wait to join him in the first leg of his odyssey.

Diana is Colombian with a background in social sciences and development. She has worked with NGO's, public institutions in Colombia and as a researcher in Africa. She lives in Johannesburg since 2003, works for the HSRC and does some voluntary work with African Refugee communities. By working and living in Africa she has come to understand the devastating social and economic impacts of HIV/AIDS. This will be Diana's first fund raising sailing experience.

Ruth Tampsett

Ruth is English and has eight years experience as a nurse. Currently working in London's St Thomas's busy accident and emergency department, she's hoping to study medical anthropology after the trip.
